Contraindications of Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Patients who have a history of the following conditions, have a very high risk of adverse outcomes:

  • Prostate cancer
  • Breast cancer (Note: .1% of all breast cancers occur in men. Testosterone replacement therapy can contribute to the growth of an already existing cancerous tissue in the male breast)

Patients who have a history of the following conditions, have a moderate to high risk of adverse outcomes:

  • Undiagnosed prostate condition
  • Unexplained PSA(Prostate Specific Antigen) elevation
  • High levels of HCT(haematocrit) >50%
  • Severe lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic enlargement
  • Unstable severe congestive heart failure ( class II or IV)
  • untreated sleep apnea
  • Severe depression

Please note, if you suffer from any of above conditions, you are NOT a candidate for testosterone replacement therapy.
